The Google Play Store stores millions of apps for users to download. But, not all of them are useful. Many of them just eat up the memory space of your systems without serving any definite purpose.
Today, as part of Phoenix IT support tip of the week, we’ll give you a list of Play Store applications that you can avoid downloading.
Apps that Reduce RAM Usage
In your android device, many applications continuously run in the background. This process can drain your battery by using up RAM space, thereby decreasing the device’s performance. Even if the app is in standby mode, your device is affected.
Many Google store apps claim to aid in eliminating these background processes. However, it is not true. The apps make the system performance even worse.
Apps that Clean a Phone’s Cached Data
Phone data caching helps you retain crucial information while logging into a specific website. However, many apps can clear the caching. Regular cache clearing is necessary to free up your system space.
Apps for data caching works well in some instances. But, few apps can drain your phone battery and redirect you to malicious advertising websites. Instead of retaining the app, you can delete it through the following process.
- Go to your Settings
- Navigate to Storage > Cached data
- Then, Clear cached data or Apps
- Click on the Downloaded option
- Select a Specific App > Clear Cache
Battery Saving Apps
Battery limitations can be frustrating to any user. Hence, the possibility of an app that helps you with long battery life can be attractive. However, these apps have their limitations.
First, these apps would require root privileges over your Android phone. Second, in case of an app closure due to higher draining levels, the app will again reopen and end up using more of your battery power. Luckily, Google has introduced Android’s Adaptive Battery, limiting drainage of less frequently used applications.
Apps that Activate a Flashlight
You don’t require additional flashlight software when you already have a reasonably good inbuilt flashlight on your device. By doing so, you can avoid privacy breaches via excess permission settings.
Free Antivirus Software
Free antivirus software can be tempting, but it may not give you the level of protection you’re looking for. Take some time to choose, but go for a reputed and paid antivirus software.
World’s Largest Social Networking Platform Facebook
The world’s largest social networking platform is necessary to this list. The aftermath of the Cambridge Analytica scandal brought some major security issues to the forefront. Facebook app has numerous issues like enhanced memory usage, invasive permission settings, unnecessary background activities, and massive data consumption.
However, you can still use Facebook through the web rather than downloading the app on your mobile. Also, you can create a shortcut icon and place it on your home screen. In this way, you can avoid draining your battery and data. If you want to continue using Facebook, better spend some time reviewing the security settings.
Applications on the Play Store can either help or harm your business. Ensure that your employees remain mindful by using the right app and not exposing your organization to unnecessary risks.
