A major problem for any organization is spyware, which is another popular form of malware. With the use, generation, and collecting of data, spyware can be used to take it from your organization. While your company can take major steps to avoid spyware, what if it had already been installed on your computer before you even received it?
HP is in controversy at the moment because it has been discovered that they have been doing just that. HP Touchpoint Analytics is a software that is added to their Windows Update. This software randomly sends couches of data from your device to the HP Touchpoint Manager. HP defended this software stating that it was to relieve “time-consuming tasks of device support and lifecycle management.”
With that explanation, many would forgive Hp and turn a blind eye, but we would like to point out that this is a major issue because HP is storing data without the user’s consent. If you’re like us and see this as an issue, you may want to bring your computer to an IT professional so it can be uninstalled, along with any other software that is not vital. You can also disable it yourself by searching Windows Services and disabling HP Touchpoint Analytics Client, then uninstalling it from the software list.
