Tip of the Week: PowerPointing You In the Right Direction

If you use Microsoft PowerPoint to make presentations, we have some helpful tips to spice up that boring presentation you’re used to replicating. PowerPoint can be great, since it is user-friendly and has many useful settings, but are you using it to your advantage? Here are some of the best ways you can utilize presentations with these PowerPoint tips and tricks.

Change Your Object Defaults

If you make PowerPoints often for your team meetings, you might want to have them all be uniform so they are recognizable and on-brand. This is actually quite easy to do with PowerPoint and not by changing each object every single time. You can actually change the object default settings.

One example is the changing of the default font and text box sizes so that when you make a new text box, you don’t have to go in and change the settings every single time. Once you create an example of what you want your text boxes to look like, you can right-click on it and set it as the default. Then, every single text box you open will look the same.

Finding an Object

If you’ve found it hard to separate your objects and find the one you’re looking for, we have a simple fix. This can be really difficult when your objects are grouped together. If you click the tab button, it will cycle through your objects, even if they are grouped together, so you can find the one you are looking for so you can do with it whatever you needed to.

Implement Templates

PowerPoint has many templates already, but we’re guessing that none of them will quite fit your business’ color scheme and branding. But, using a template can be very helpful and save you a lot of time, especially if you need to make presentations really often. We recommend you taking the time to design your own template that will match your business’ ideals.

While this step will be time-consuming, it will save you so much time later because you won’t have to adjust colors and logos every single time you make a presentation. If this is not something you want to do, we still suggest you use a template so your presentations look uniform. After all, people will be interested in what you are presenting, not your design style.
